So here we are heading head long into autumn when in truth I was still looking forward to summer, hey ho welcome to the uk.

We celebrated the wonderful Food and Drink Festival last weekend held in the Market place. I bought so many lovely items, cheeses, pies and a string of garlic cloves from the Isle of Wight Garlic farm.IMG_0031

The sad thing was not everyone knew it was happening and that’s what we at Destination Salisbury are endeavouring to change. So if you know something is happening that others would be interested in attending, please let me know and we can post it.

I enjoyed a lunch at The Bath Arms in Horningsham on the edge of the Longleat Estate, the drive was easy and I would happily recommend it.

For anyone who enjoys walking there are some fabulous walks in and around Salisbury, Wilton and Amesbury. With a friend we walk along the side of the river Avon towards Stratford Sub Castle across Hudsons Field into the Old Castle for a drink then around the lower section of Old Sarum and then we head back home.

queen_elizabeth_gardens_resizedWalk to Elizabeth Gardens and across the town path, remember to take your camera to capture one of the most inspiring views of Salisbury Cathedral. Past or in The Old Mill pub follow the road up to Harnham and across the main road and walk up to the chalk hill which will again provide you with a fabulous view across Salisbury.

The Grasmere Hotel on Harnham Road has stunning views across the river Avon towards the Cathedral and not surprisingly is one of the top wedding venues in town.

Salisbury is blessed with beautiful gardens – Churchill Gardens, Elizabeth Gardens and Victoria Gardens all easily accessible and perfect for families to enjoy where children can run, cycle and play safely and have some free fun
